ICH BEDANKE MICH BEI DEM EHEPAAR WELCHES MIR DIE TOLLEN BILDER ZUR VERFÜGUNG GESTELLT HAT.
Two souls reciprocally connected to be united for the sake of others.
The hand binding is an antique Celtic wedding customs. The four elements is its basement. It will ALWAYS enhance from absolute conviction the selected soulmate to serve its best, to grow love and shine on him.
The Handfasting was celebrated as a legal marriage approximatively from the 12th to the 17th century.
It was even common for the couple to address each other by their first name and the words like: I take you ... name, to my wedded wife / husband until death takes us apart. Today we recognize these words from ceremonies in churches. This also ratifies shows that through the Christianization the genuine paganism would give up its rituals. Many other ecclesiastical festivals are legalized paganisms which have received been renamed with the introduction of religions. The meaning of death was not meant to necessarily be the physical death. Often lovers promised marriage before the man went to war. Thus, the marriage was immediately lawful and valid. Should the husband died during the war, then the wife inherit all goods.
The difficult living conditions and petite properties forced the couple to this necessity.
As a present, rings were passed / no wedding rings, valuable jewels. Likewise coins were divided in the middle and half was worn around the spouse’s neck. The coins covered the financial resources, but also pointed to all physical energies. Summarized home, body and food.
For the marriage, the crimson ribbon was tied in the middle. This was done with the right hand which represents the determination for the purposes of the words. I WANT! This resulted in the concept of hand binding. The color red represented the blood and the life. The marriage bond was placed over the hands of the couple and of a venerable fellow who was in the heart with the omnipotence (the original source, the light and the four elements before the Christianization) and centered, consummated and was thus legally valid.
After Christianization, it has been required from the spouses that the marriage should be approved by the authorities and paid for. Originally no payment was required. Only the mind, the deep bond of love and benevolence counted. The pairs were then entered into the register and the church decided by default how to celebrate this marriage.
The aboriginals, nations as Irish and Scottish Celts’ predecessors escaped from the state-prescribed patterns and left it as hand binding lawless. The only essence was the heart. Seà (Amen). Cross my heart!
Hand binding took exclusively place outdoors. It was also common to celebrate in a bar, in the flower garden or at bride’s home. The most significant features were the attitude, the disposition and the loyalty.
